Road Closures

The City of Greater Bendigo (COGB) would like to advise that the following road closures will occur for the conduct of events, for the Games during the period Tuesday 30 November to Friday 3 December 2004. 

Monday 29 November - Sunday 5 December 2004
Access to QEO/ Rosalind Park area will be closed for access via View Street.  This car park area can be accessed for the duration of this period via Goal Road (bollards to be removed) to allow access. 

Tuesday 30 November 2004 - Cycling Event (Time Trial)
The Time Trial commences at 9.30am from the La Trobe University Bendigo Athletics Complex, Retreat Road, Spring Gully.  Speed restrictions will be in place for the duration of this event.  Access to the course will be restricted between the hours of 8.00am to 1.00pm.  The course travels in a southerly direction along Retreat Road, into Mandurang Road, with a turnaround occurring 12.5kms from the start point and returning along the same route.  Further information on this course can be obtained by viewing the map (Time_Trial)

Tuesday 30 November 2004 - Opening Ceremony
Water Street will be closed for access by all vehicles.  Closure will occur from 4.30pm to 11.30pm.  Visual display boards indicating closure will be placed on Bridge and Barnard Streets.  Recommended parking for this event is outlined below.

Wednesday 1 December 2004 - Cycling Event (Mountain Bike)
Unsealed section at the end of Osborne Street will be closed access between the hours of 12.00am to 3.00pm.  Restricted access for local residents only will be monitored at the intersection of Osborne & Cook Streets. Recommended parking for this event is via La Trobe University Bendigo Athletics Complex - shuttle service to be operational at 15 minute intervals between hours of 8.30 and 1.00pm.  

Friday 3 December 2004 - Cycling Event (Road Race / Massed Start)
The Road Race commences at 9.30am from the area adjacent to Spring Gully Hall, Spring Gully Road.  Speed restrictions will be in place for the duration of this event.  Access to the course will be limited between the hours of 8.00am to 3.00pm.  The race will involve laps of a 15km anticlockwise circuit from Spring Gully Road, into Burns Street, Diamond Hill Road, Nankervis Road, Mandurang Road.  Road barriers will be progressively installed from 8.00am for the duration of the day, with rolling closures occurring of major intersections.  Further information on this course can be obtained by viewing the map (Massed_Start).

The City of Greater Bendigo encourages the community to view these events and enjoy the associated activities of the Commonwealth Youth Games. Any disruption to traffic and access caused is regretted.
